Episode 263 - Mark Hall

AI Is Not a Substitute for Your License

Start listening

AI for real estate agents can be an incredibly powerful tool. But according to Atlanta Communities president Mark Hall, agents need to remember one important distinction: AI is not a substitute for your real estate license.

Mark joins James Dwiggins and Keith Robinson for a wide-ranging conversation about leadership, training, technology, the economy, and what it takes to remain valuable in a changing real estate industry.

After eight years in the Marine Corps and service during the Gulf War, Mark brought lessons about preparation, confidence, adaptability, and leadership into his real estate career. He argues that too many agents attend training without ever truly training. Knowing what to do isn’t enough.

You need the repetitions necessary to confidently execute when a difficult client, negotiation, objection, or unexpected situation arrives.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why training creates the confidence agents need when things don’t go according to plan
  • How Atlanta Communities built its business while maintaining its independence
  • Why agents need relationships and human connection regardless of what happens with technology
  • How Mark approaches AI for real estate agents and where he believes its limitations begin
  • Why working your sphere and talking to people remains one of the most important things an agent can do

When it comes to AI for real estate agents, Mark isn’t dismissing the technology. Atlanta Communities is actively providing classes on AI and teaching agents about its uses in real estate. But he believes agents need to keep the technology in perspective. AI can help organize thoughts, sharpen questions, generate ideas, and increase efficiency. It cannot assume the responsibilities that come with being a licensed professional.

The bigger danger with AI for real estate agents may be allowing the technology to create more noise instead of helping agents become better at their actual jobs. Mark points to increasingly similar AI-generated property posts as an example of what happens when everyone starts relying on the same tools in the same way.

Ultimately, AI for real estate agents should remain exactly that: a tool. Mark’s advice for agents trying to grow their businesses has very little to do with technology: silence the noise, get around people who know, like, and trust you, pick up the phone, and have conversations.

Because no matter how sophisticated AI for real estate agents becomes, real estate is still a relationship business.
